Welcoming Speech by Head of English Panel

1.1                   Mr Marzuki Abdullah welcomed Mdm Nik Aishah Nik Mustapha (PK KO) , Mr Mohd

Rahimi Muhammad  the head of Language

Department and all of the committee members of English Panel for the year 2007.

1.2                Mr Marzuki congratulated all of English

teachers  for their hardworking and successfully achieved the good result for PMR 2006.  Mr Marzuki expressed his worried  on how to  maintain the result for the year 2007.

1.3                Mr Marzuki told the committee members that  the Principle congratulated the English Panel for achieving the good result .

Regarding to that, Mr Principle asked the English teachers to put more efforts in order to maintain the good result in the coming PMR examination.

2.1      Mr Mohd Rahimi the Head of Language Department

congratulated all English teachers for achieving good result in 2006 PMR.

      Regarding to that, Mr Mohd Rahimi asked all English   

       teachers to work more harder to achieve the good

       result for 2007 PMR and SPM.

Matters Arising

4.1                 Mr Mohd Nazam mentioned about SAL Room. All  agreed to use multimedia unity room. According to that, Mr Nazam suggested that the materials in the multimedia unit room should be maximized used.

Regarding to the multimedia room, Mr Nazam told that the suggested period was not suitable because the teachers need to prepare all the tools and it will take times. The small room is not suitable for the’ great ‘activities.

4.2     Mdm Nik Aishah Nik Mustapha asked the Head of       

           Panel to discuss with Mr Zulkhairi about that

           matter.

           Regarding to that, Mr Mohd Nazam suggested

           that the timetable has to be change to fix with the

           timetable of multimedia room. ( for the year 2006, 

            the teachers have to’ book’ the room earlier).

Post Mortem of PMR Examination 2006

5.1                Analysis for PMR result

(Refer to the  distributed analysis pmr result)

            Mr Marzuki presented the English result for

 PMR 2006.

       Candidate :  211

       Passers   :  139

       %             :65.88%  

         A :  15

         B:  12

         C:  48

         D:  64

5.2             Referring to the result, Mr Marzuki was

satisfied for the best classes result but the action should be taken to increase the number of achievers  for weak classes in  PMR examination 2007.

Mr Marzuki expressed his worry on  how to maintain the result for the year 2007.

Mr Marzuki mentioned that English Panel will continue on the ‘Word Race’ program . He also added that the module called ‘Gempur Grammar’ which has been used last year helped the students a lot to improve their grammar.

5.3             Mr Nazam asked about the boarder mark.

  Mr Marzuki mentioned the boarder mark:

       Scholl mark :     35 %

       National mark :  25 %

Headcount Report

6.1                All the teachers have to provide the headcount

for each students. The  headcount will be use as indicator for students to check  their performance in order to improve their English.

Based on his experienced, Mr Marzuki said that

the headcount helped students a lot to increase

their result and  push up  the students weakness.

6.2             Regarding  to the headcount for PMR Examination,

Mr Nazam said that the teachers have to see the TOV ( from the 2006 final year examination result).  

Mr Mohd Rahimi asked the English panel to have another meeting to discuss about the details for the 2006 final year exam English result and work on  for the plan and strategies for the year 2007.

Mr Marzuki mentioned that the next meeting will also discuss about SBOA .                           According to that, Mr Marzuki asked the teachers to come out with the plan  and strategies on how to excell  in English.

Scheme of Work/ Sukatan & Huraian Sukatan

7.1                 Regarding to that, Mr Nazam said that he was

prepared the gant chart for the lower form

scheme of work.

7.2       Mr Marzuki  reminded the teachers to complete

Scheme of work  and everything which should be include in the lesson plan .

Other Relevants Details

8.1                According to the timetable given, Mr Nazam said  that it was not fair to teachers to prepare

3 types/level of lesson plan. Mr Nazam suggested that the teachers should be given one level teaching form . This, will help them to focus on their teaching planning.

Mdm Nik Aishah will discuss this matter with Mr Hashim Mamat. She added that, the problem that the English Panel was facing now is lack of English teachers especially the optionist.

8.2             Mdm Manirah asked about the reference book for  the students.  Regarding to that, Mr Marzuki told that the new book will be order for SPM students. Mdm Suhaila suggested that the book should be enough for one class.

8.3             Mr Marzuki emphasized  all the teachers to

communicate in English  to improve their English.

8.4    Mr Nazam asked about the follow up program

          for HELP.  Mdm Nik Aishah said that the Buddy          

         Support Program is the continous program .               

         All of English teachers were encouraged to give

         hand and full support to this program.

8.5             Mr Mohd Rahimi reminded all the teachers to

do the SBOA ( School Based Oral Assesment). It was compulsory for all forms.

According to that, Mr Marzuki asked Mr Rahimi to get more informations from PPD or other school which has been doing SBOA . Mr Rahimi promised to get the information as soon as possible .

8.6             Mr Marzuki  thanked the teachers for

presenting, He is looking forward for the

continous cooperation to make sure the English Panel success for this year.

Mr Marzuki  asked the teachers to work together and put more effort to tackle the weak

students and improve the  coming PMR and SPM result.
